Grief is Not a 4-letter Word

Have you noticed that GRIEF is not a 4-letter word? I’ll explain. It seems that for all the years humans have been living and dying on Earth, in many societies we are still not good at it.  We, for the most part, love the coming in  but are very uncomfortable and clumsy with the going out.

Often, grief is viewed as bad behavior, an enemy rather than a healthy and necessary human experience that is part of facing the truth about loss through death. Many people misunderstand the grief process and think that the faster one processes, the better. Some people are so uncomfortable around a person who has suffered great loss, that they simply ignore the grieving person or offer well-meaning but non-helpful phrases like, “He’s in a better place.”
